At the Royal Selangor Visitor Centre, you will have the opportunity to truly experience pewter, both as a beautiful work of art to be admired as well as skilled craft to be appreciated.
As you explore the gallery and exhibits, you will learn of the history of pewter and its special place in the history of Kuala Lumpur. You will also get a better understanding of how pewter is made and crafted to become to ornaments and practical items that you can purchase today.
There are two interactive workshops that are open to public participation. Craft a take-home engravable pewter dish using traditional tools, similar to those used by pewter-smiths more than 100 years ago at the Royal Selangor School of Hard Knocks. Or choose to create a take-home pewter accessory freehand or from existing molds using fundamental pewter crafting processes - casting, polishing and decorating at the Foundry.
The Royal Selangor Visitor Centre is recognised as one of the top tourist attractions in Kuala Lumpur, winning the Traveller’s Choice Award by Trip Advisor in 2015. The visitor centre is open daily from 9.00am to 5.00pm, offers free admission and provides complimentary guided tours.
